Christmas Kindle Sales Give Amazon Reason To Be Jolly

The best touch screen ebook reader on the market today is, in many people’s opinion, the Nook Simple touch from Barnes and Noble. So the fact that Amazon seems to be winning the Kindle Touch vs Nook Touch fight just at the moment may seem a little surprising.
Amazon were very upbeat with their Kindle sales over the Christmas period – advising that one million Kindles (all models) were sold each week in December. Festive season sales of the Nook Simple Touch, Barnes and Noble advised, had not met their projected levels. B&N subsequently expanded upon this by saying that Nook Touch sales were 70% higher than sales of the Nook reader over the same period last year, and that the problem was actually an inaccurate sales forecast.
However, news of disappointing sales, coupled with the revelation that B&N might consider splitting off their digital sales arm (the Nook basically) saw Barnes and Noble’s share price fall sharply.
