The internet has changed almost everything, especially education. A recent survey said that of all the college students enrolled in classes, 1 in 4 had at least 1 online course. E-learning, or online classes, is much better for the environment and the economy. Books, gas, and high tuition prices are just a few of the things you’re able to avoid when you take your classes online. Bill Gates said last year at a conference in Lake Tahoe, CA that in a few years anyone will be able to find the best lectures on earth online, thereby rendering educational institutions obsolete.

Khan Academy, which gives “a free world-class education for anyone anywhere,” even received funding from Bill Gates. From basic trigonometry to the binomial theorem, the Khan Academy has about 2,100 instructional videos for anybody willing to learn. The internet provides opportunities for anyone willing to spend some time to learn. Money is becoming less important whereas time and access to internet are all anyone needs to learn important and practical information. While it can be a powerful and destructive force to society and the planet, the internet is helping bring to pass great improvements in education and instruction. There is also funding for school programs available for individuals and minorities. One example is, they have scholarships for african americans that will help them pay for their educational requirements.

The internet gives anyone the possibility of becoming whatever they want, financial resources are becoming less important when compared to online influence and skills. Before, you had to travel long distances to have access to the world’s best books and educators but now they come to you. This is why giving poorer children in 3rd world countries access to the internet has become extremely important. Eventually everyone will have the ability to obtain a quality education for almost no cost. Back in history, only the wealthiest and most powerful families could actually educate their children and help them to graduate from a university. Many things have changed in the past few decades, especially in the past decade.

Along with the internet, tablets are also dramatically changing the way we learn. Instead of big bulky textbooks students now have interactive ebooks that let them watch videos, play games and listen to audio clips. It is now possible to create and submit entire essays wirelessly, without needing to worry about running out of ink or getting hand cramps. In the past ten years, education has changed more than during the entire last century. Unfortunately not enough people are using this. Lots of people have access to these tools however they are simply lazy or they don’t know about them.

The future of education is a bright one. Every single day individuals have increasingly more access to learning tools that will help them gain more knowledge. Sadly people aren’t taking advantage of the opportunities they have access to. Online classes are really the future of education, not just because they are environmentally and economically friendly but also because they give their students flexibility.
